In addition to home-style cooking, we also endeavour to serve trendy, exotic, Mediterranean and Asian dishes. To this end, we offer two menu lines - mensaVital and mensaInternational - in our canteens.
mensaVital - fresh, tasty and healthy
Our mensaVital menu line shows that healthy eating is not only good for you, but also tastes really delicious. Just try it out in our canteen and see for yourself.
Developed by the East German Studentenwerke, mensaVital is now a joint brand of all Studentenwerke. An interdisciplinary team of chefs, dieticians, dietary assistants and ecotrophologists is constantly working to further develop the menu line - for more variety, freshness and enjoyment on your plate.

mensaVital stands for:
- Nutritionally balanced composition of ingredients
- Vitamin-preserving and low-fat preparation
- Use of high-quality fats and oils
- our contribution to "5 a day" (5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day)
- Careful food selection (wholemeal products, pulses, nuts, lean meat, crunchy, colourful vegetables)
- Fish, meat, vegan and vegetarian dishes are offered daily in a balanced ratio
- Avoid fried and breaded foods
- Avoid highly processed foods
- Fresh and natural ingredients

mensaInternational - Recipes from all over the world
The recipes and preparation techniques for our international dishes come from students from different countries and from students with a migration background - handed down, tried and tested and shared with us.
Authentic preparation always takes centre stage. Thanks to the continuous input of international students, we regularly adapt recipes and cooking methods to offer you a flavour experience that is as close to the original as possible.
Ingredients and additives
In our modern, well-equipped kitchens, our chefs only use food of the highest quality and freshness. Quality at a reasonable price is our top priority in all decisions. We source our products exclusively from certified suppliers who demonstrably fulfil high quality standards.
A large part of our product range is put out to tender throughout Europe together with the other student services organisations in the new federal states. This ensures consistent quality and favourable prices.
It goes without saying that we do not use genetically modified foods. All ingredients subject to labelling requirements are listed transparently.
